What's Second Chance?

Second Chance is a maze game that oozes atmosphere and chills, winding through darkness after a fatal error. With the aid of sound alone, you must chart your course in avoiding death itself and towards freedom. The game is audio-heavy—headphones are a definite must—in telling you where walls are, Death's footsteps, and his ominous breathing when close.

Made using Unity, this indie horror experience is a combination of suspense, exploration, and puzzle-building into a singular immersive challenge.

How to Play

Movement: Use WASD to move forward, backward, or strafe.
Turning: Press the Left and Right Arrow keys to rotate 90 degrees each.
Map: Press Spacebar to toggle map display, which updates as you explore. You may also modify walls by clicking them.
Avoid Death: If you hear it breathe, that means it's nearby. Turn around quickly to confront it and then push it away.

The environment is grid-based: One movement equates to stepping over one square, and one turn equals a quarter full rotation. The forward direction from the start is up on the map.

Tips and Tricks

Listen very carefully: Sounds are everything; wall crashes from Death's footsteps will be cues.
Make good maps: Keep updating to ensure you do not retrace your steps—or worse, get cornered into dead ends by Death!
Stay calm: Panic might send you the wrong way. Face Death immediately; this will buy you some time.

Known Issues

Browser Compatibility: Best in Firefox; others (Chrome, Edge) may have slight hiccups.
Audio Bugs: Ambient sounds might only work after the replay, and jump scares may go out of sync (blame WebGL).
