What Is Shroud of Gloom?

It's a point-and-click horror puzzle game that keeps you tense, tucking you inside a dimly lit room with your only beacon being a flickering flashlight. The catch? Something horrible is after you, and the only safe place is darkness—but you can't stay hidden forever. Solve puzzles, stay away from the monster, and survive the intense atmosphere of this game.

How to Play

Look Around: Use your mouse to interact with objects and pick up on clues.
Never Let Your Guard Down: Your flashlight will save or condemn you, so sometimes it's best to hide in the dark while progressing with this light.
Be Silent: Any noise will attract the monster. Walk carefully so as not to alert this dangerous presence.
The World Is One Big Puzzle: Extract clues, figure out the secrets behind your imprisonment, and get yourself out.

To fully experience the foreboding sound design, play with stereo headphones.

Tips & Tricks

Save that Battery: Your light comes in scarce supply; use it when absolutely necessary.
Ear Out: Audio signals let you know if peril is near.
Think Twice: Before switching on your light, plan the path that'll bring you out from under its glare.
Stay Clam: Panic might end up costing you. Stay patient, that is your way through.

History

Shroud of Gloom was developed for GDFG Monthly Game Jam #36 themed "Safe In The Dark." It was the developers' very first entry into this competition and took roughly 155 hours over 25 days to complete. The entire process was streamed live right through Twitch, with full VODs accessible for anybody interested in watching the journey unfold together.
