What is In A Dark Cellar?

In A Dark Cellar is a tense and atmospheric horror-adventure game. The protagonist is an electrician sent to the church in the middle of the night to fix some wiring. A seemingly straightforward task turns a little more sinister. Developed for the Newbies Game Jam 2024 (Halloween Edition), this one-person endeavor gives you eerie exploring, environmental puzzles, and an insidious creeper of a dread in a short-but-stays-in-your-memory experience.

How To Play

Movement: WASD keys to move inside a shady old church.
Looking Around: Use the mouse to pan the camera around.
Interacting: Press E to interact with stuff. Use LMB for puzzles and menus.
Sprinting: Hold on to Left Shift to move faster in escaping some tight moments.
Jumping: Pressing Space will let you jump.
Pause: Hit Esc to pause and cool yourself off.

Tips & Tricks

Stay Alert – Clues are in the environment of the church. Always check.
Save Stamina – Sprinting saps away your stamina. Only use it when you need to run really fast.
Listen Carefully – There might be audio cues hinting at danger or hidden locations.
Look Everywhere – Backtracking or noticing something small might be required to solve some puzzles.

Developed as a solo project for the Newbies Game Jam 2024 (Halloween Edition), In A Dark Cellar was made to be a short and powerful horror experience. The game relies on atmosphere and tension rather than jump scares and is a great experience for players who enjoy slow-burn psychological horror.
