What Is Interactive Horror Stories?
Interactive Horror Stories is a chilling text-based adventure where your choices determine if you live or die-an evolution of the "Choose Your Own Nightmare" style. As you make a perilous decision, you wander deeper into the clutches of terror with seven different horror stories unlocking numerous endings. From haunted dolls to grisly ritual, every tale is an independent nightmare ready to spring forth depending on your action.
How to Play
- Choose a Story: Pick one from the seven horror tales such as The Doll and Ouija.
- Read and Choose: Read the text and choose from the given options at key moments.
- Face the Consequences: Choices taken will determine the next phase of the storyline; some endings lead to survival while some others lead to grisly mishaps.
- Play Again: Follow other paths from different choices for other endings.
Tips & Tricks
- Take Risks: Bold choices easily produce the best (and worst) endings.
- Look For Trigger Symbols or Phrases: Sometimes symbols or phrases keep popping up that can hint at secret story branches.
- Embrace the Darkness: Paradoxically, avoiding "bad" choices might conceal the most horrid lore.
History
Though the game itself does not have a public creation history–meaning the story behind the conception of the game–it obviously draws upon back-from-the-ages Choose Your Own Adventure books and text-horror games such as Zork, or modern visual novels. It is unique in the world of interactive fiction due to the amount of player agency and psychological terror thrust upon the player.

No downloads, nothing heavy on specs, just a browser and nerves that can withstand this. Great for late-night gaming sessions (if you ever find the guts).
The Stories in a Nutshell
- The Doll: It seems like an innocent little present, but really it's a horrible curse.
- After Funeral: Grief takes a diametrically opposite direction.
- Crystal Skull (and its sequel): Yes, cosmic horror thanks to some artifact.
- Evil Beneath the Ground: Those who dig too deep have to pay a price.
- Madness in Infinite Loop: Time bends in terrible ways.
- Ouija: Spirit summoning was never intended to be good.
