What Is Space Pests?

It is a high-paced 3D FPS where you shoot at never-ending hordes of aliens across greater and greater levels of challenge. As a passion project by Li-Yu Wen (or Liam) himself, Space Pests throws you into furious combat situations filled with clever mechanics such as parkour, spawn systems, and boss fights dropping essential pickups. Crafted with custom music, hand-placed levels, and an increasing level of difficulty, Space Pests is what you want if you are into adrenaline-pumping action that requires a bit of strategic planning.

How to Play

Movement: Mobility through levels is classic FPS: WASD movement and mouse to aim.
Parkour: Jump and do agile moves to cross challenging terrain, especially in Level 3's exquisitely designed cave.
Combat: Aim, shoot, and kill enemies with your gun (automatic fire kicks in from Level 4!).
Objectives: In Levels 3-4, defeat particular enemies to collect goal pickups that lead to the next level.
Retry: Use the Retry button to get back into the game after failure.

Tips and Tricks

Level 3's Cave: Be amazed by the design for a little while—but stay aware of possible ambushers!
Ammo Management: Auto fire grants a lot of power in Level 4 but finish your ammunition fast.
Parkour Practice: Get your parkour skills down in the early levels; the later ones will require pinpoint precision.
Boss Fights: Focus on enemy targets that drop goal pickups or you may get stuck.

Game History

Originally designed as a student project at Michigan State University, Space Pests evolved through various iterations. The remade one boasts:

Music written by SoundTrap studios.
Four levels (3–4 hard for masochists).
Minor QOL fixes such as the Retry button and better instructions.

Note Regarding Versions

The WebGL version on itch.io has a minor bug with the "Level Select" screen. For a smoother experience, you may want to use the downloadable installer.
