What Is Chromatic Caves?

Chromatic Caves is a few short but interesting moments of an adventure game where you play the last hope for a world with its color about to be lost. Once a land full of color, it is fading into grayscale after The Tower, which was its protector, lost its signal. That means you have to somehow enter those mysterious caves, find the lost signals, salvage The Tower's power, and save what was left from total destruction-induced healing-before-it-outfades-into-color. Created within 27 hours for Fox Hollow Jam 3, this atmospheric game scores big on the moody feel and the allure of simple yet engaging mechanics.

How to Play

Movement: Use WASD to move through the caves
Flashlight: Press F or Space to turn on light to see hidden paths and hidden dangers.
Objective: Find signals in the caves to help The Tower reactivate so color is not lost.

Tips & Tricks

Save your light: A light is very important but probably is limited energy-hold it for really dark spots.
Listen carefully: Audio clues can give hints toward where signals or dangers are nearby.
Explore: Inform yourself that some signals might be placed off the main trail, so it's worth checking every nook!

History

Chromatic Caves was created under tight constraints for Fox Hollow Jam 3 (Gauntlet), a game jam in which creators are challenged to build a complete experience in just two days. Though the timeframe was very small, Chromatic Caves succeeds at making a visual aesthetic and a compelling premise about restoring color to a dying world.
