What is Nelly?

Nelly is a poignant and difficult law of platformer games about a lonely little girl trapped in a dark, cursed forest. The world around her is filled with shadows and despair, and your role is to see her through perilous obstacles and deadly traps. An unpleasant world will be navigated with careful jumps, some clever spells, and quick reflexes to help Nelly find joy or at least survive.

Controls

Movement: Use the arrow keys to move Nelly right and left or make her jump.
Spells: Press A or S to cast spells (once unlocked).
Interaction: Click the mouse button for any interactions in the environment.
Goal: Make sure Nelly is safe through every level whilst avoiding traps, spikes, and falls.
Health: Stay constantly aware of how healthy Nelly is at all times; you have to stay alive!

Tips and Tricks

Timing: Look at the patterns of enemies or how long spikes will remain up; patience is key.
Know your spells: Some things may only move with magic and those A and S keys better be well learned.
Explore: Some mouse click interactions could hide some paths or extras.
Keep Trying: Long haul, it’s going to get tougher but a checkpoint is always a small victory.

Nelly is the melancholy tale of a lonely little girl forced to survive in a joyless, shadow-filled world. The dark, fairy-tale atmosphere of the game and description that is so subtle and emotional places this game into an entirely different realm than that of platformers. Though this element of the game is more kind of a mystery, a proper combination of good old platforming and light puzzling can keep the player intensely engaged.
