What is Interim?
Interim is an indie satire game which lets you experience that soul-sapping bureaucratic tedium. Created for GN Game Jam Autumn 2024, this darkly comical interlude puts you in the shoes of someone who is merely trying to get a simple stamp—only for the system to bait and test your patience at every opportunity. With its minimalist artistic style and wildly relatable premise, Interim turns the annoying experience of simply standing in line into an oddly rewarding (and painfully hilarious) challenge.
How to Play
All you really have to do is get your paperwork approved. But the way? Anything but simple. You'll stand in line, maybe follow some rules—maybe not; and somehow, it feels like the system is actively working against you, wasting your precious time. So the real question is: will you stick to the rules...or will you pursue... alternative solutions?
Tips & Tricks
- Keep your calm. The game is ironic as there are some things that will inevitably just take time.
- Study and observe. The system can be taken advantage of if you know the loopholes.
- Don't get caught. Make sure nobody is watching you should you decide to bend the rules.
History
Developed in just a mere 170 hours by a small but extremely talented team, Interim has its birth from the joint frustration with bureaucratic inefficiency. Using Unity, Blender, and Aseprite, the team created a game that is equally polished as it is painfully relatable.
Why You'll Love It
If you've ever stood in a DMV line or been in the clutches of paperwork hell, Interim somehow turns that collective frustration into an oddly fun experience. It's brief, to the point, and doused in dark humor, perfect for a quick play whenever you want to laugh at the sometimes downright ridiculous antics of life.
