What Is Untitled Narrative Game Mod?

Untitled Narrative Game Mod is a quirky, experimental narrative game created as part of an introductory game development class. It was made in a single day with GameMaker, thus using minimalistic pixel art and having slightly unsettling yet intriguing gameplay. The creative process behind making this mod involves an early foray in showcasing the creator's evolving style and interest in themes that are eerie and thought-provoking.

How to play

Movement: Use the WASD keys to move your character.
Interactions: Press SPACE to interact with objects or continue the storyline.
SPD boost: Hold SHIFT for faster movement (only works in some levels).

This game aims to counter your expectations- nothing is what it seems, so keep an eye out!

Tips & Tricks

First, Explore: On the final level, try walking to the right. Something might be there.
Sound Issues: Occasionally, if there is no audio, click somewhere on the game window to promote sound playback.
Expect the Unexpected: The game literally spins on how narrative and mechanics are supposed to work. Consider going into it with an open mind.

History

Created in July 2023 as an assignment for NYU Game Design, the mod shows the developer's early attempts in GameMaker and pixel art. Rough around the edges though it is, it exposes themes the creator goes on to engage with in later work.

Known Bugs

In-browser sound issues may require clicking the game window to activate loudspeakers.
Behavior is nonsensical at times, thanks to quirks in GameMaker- embrace the chaos!
